Our Vision & Values
Lotus Academy is a Specialist Academy for students aged between 7 and 16 years (Year 3 to Year 11) who have a primary need of SEMH. We cater for children who have a diagnosis of ADHD, ASD, Attachment and other conditions that impact on a young persons’ mental health.
Lotus embodies an ethos whereby nurture, enjoyment and self-belief are the foundations to learning. Students thrive in a learning environment where they feel safe and stimulated to learn and develop strategies that will help them to understand the world around them. We aim to ensure that they are prepared to function in an ever- changing world and that they value learning and self-development as a way of functioning as an adult.
Student happiness is a priority to us and we realise that all our students have experienced challenges along their journey so far. Staff expertly plan lessons to ensure students are engaged in all their learning and all outcomes and achievements are recognised and celebrated.
Learning takes place when students feel safe, stimulated and secure. In this, the primary-based approach which consists of a ‘Team around the Child’ consisting of Teacher, 2 TA’s and a Pastoral Leader, helps to deliver a curriculum and a package of support that comes from having a deep understanding of the child and their needs. The learning takes into account, stages of development, gaps in knowledge as well as the sensory profile of the child. There are high expectations of both academic and personal development targets that are communicated regularly by the staff team to the learners and their parents and carers.
We truly believe that the partnership between our academy and the parents and carers are key to our success. With the support of families together, we enable students to have the skills in which to lead a promising and fulfilling adult life.
We believe that inspiring young people with their learning is about giving them a sense of belief that they will achieve their full potential. It is this belief that runs through the core of the school in everything that we do.
We will ensure that every young person leaves Lotus as a well-rounded young person ready for their next stage in life. We have a fantastic team of professionals that work in a very personalised way with each student. We care passionately about the children being given the best opportunities that they can to develop their confidence and achieve success. We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to support our learners to be the best that they can be.
I hope you will take the time to visit us at Lotus and choose us to be part of your child's exciting journey.
